The Heritage Story of Highland Ceylon Tea

Perched high in the mist-veiled central highlands above 1,800 meters, cool mountain breezes, sharp morning sunshine, and mineral-rich soils combine to create the finest orthodox tea on the planet. Experienced estate pickers still hand-pluck only "two leaves and a bud" from manicured emerald bushes. The leaves are gently withered, rolled in historic British brass rollers, oxidized, and fired into glossy black tea leaves that brew a sparkling golden amber cup with natural citrus and floral undertones.

Ancient Roots:In 1867, Scottish planter James Taylor planted the first commercial camellia sinensis tea plants on the Loolecondera estate in Kandy, forever transforming Ceylon into the tea capital of the world.
