Historical Chronicles & Living Lore
Rising 2,243 meters into the central mist of the Sabaragamuwa highlands, Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada) is one of the most spiritually unified summits on Earth. At its pinnacle lies a sacred footprint depression: revered by Buddhists as the footprint of Lord Buddha (Sri Pada), by Hindus as Lord Shiva (Shivan Oli Padam), and by Christians and Muslims as the footprint of Adam after falling from Eden. Over centuries, pilgrims of all faiths ascend 5,500 lantern-lit steps through cold night winds to reach the shrine before dawn.
Dynastic Origin & Ancient Lineage
Mentioned in the Mahavamsa and visited by Marco Polo in 1292 and Ibn Battuta in 1344, protected under the divine guardianship of deity Saman.
